Management of Change Settings
Configure checklists, templates, types, and entity restrictions for your Management of Change system.
1 Overview
What this page does
The Management of Change Settings page provides centralised configuration for all MoC-related settings. Use this page to define checklists for conducting change assessments, create templates for common change scenarios, manage change types, and configure entity-specific restrictions for subsidiaries or departments.

What you see here
Settings Tabs
This page is organised into tabs for different configuration areas:
- MoC Checklists: Create and manage checklists for change assessments
- MoC Templates: Build pre-configured templates for common changes
- MoC Types: Define categories of changes
- MoC Entity Restrictions: Configure user access to subsidiary-specific checklists and templates (when enabled)
Key Concepts
- Checklist: A structured set of questions and items to assess during a change process
- Template: A pre-configured combination of checklists and settings for a specific change type
- MoC Type: Category or classification of changes (e.g., Procedural Change, System Change, Personnel Change)
- Entity Restriction: Limitation of user access to checklists/templates specific to a subsidiary or department
Access requirement: You must have the MoC Settings - Full Access permission to view and modify MoC settings.
Changes to settings affect all new MoC assessments going forward. Existing assessments retain their original configuration.
2 MoC Checklists Tab
The MoC Checklists tab allows you to create and manage reusable checklists for conducting management of change assessments. Checklists can be organised into groups with multiple items, each requiring assessment during the change process.
What you see
The tab displays Active and Deactivated views controlled by radio buttons. A search box appears at the top, with an "Add Checklist" button in the top-right. The table shows all checklists with options to edit, export to PDF, and activate/deactivate.
Add a new checklist
- Click Add Checklist in the top-right
- Enter a descriptive name for the checklist
- Add groups to organise related checklist items
- Add items within each group with clear assessment criteria
- Configure entity restrictions if applicable
- Click Submit to save
Edit a checklist
Click the Edit button (blue pencil icon) in any row to modify the checklist name, groups, items, or entity settings. Changes apply immediately to new MoC assessments but do not affect assessments already in progress.
Deactivate or reactivate
In the Active view, click Deactivate to remove a checklist from selection. The checklist moves to the Deactivated view but remains linked to existing assessments. In the Deactivated view, click Activate to restore a checklist to active use.
3 MoC Templates Tab
The MoC Templates tab allows you to create pre-configured templates that combine checklists, settings, and default values for common change scenarios. Templates streamline the change assessment process by providing consistent starting points.
What you see
The tab displays Active and Deactivated views with search functionality. When entity restrictions are enabled, the current entity is shown in parentheses next to the table title. The table displays template names, assigned entities (if applicable), and action buttons.
Add a new template
- Click Add new MoC template in the top-right
- Enter a descriptive name for the template
- Select applicable checklists to include
- Configure default settings and field values
- Assign to a specific entity if restrictions are enabled
- Click Submit to save
Edit a template
Click the Edit button (blue pencil icon) to modify the template name, associated checklists, default values, or entity assignment. Updates apply to new MoC assessments but do not retroactively change existing assessments.
Entity-specific templates
When entity restrictions are enabled, templates can be assigned to specific subsidiaries or departments. Users see only templates available to their assigned entity, ensuring relevant content for each organisational unit.
4 MoC Types Tab
The MoC Types tab allows you to define categories or classifications of changes. Types help organise and report on different kinds of organisational changes being assessed.
What you see
The tab displays Active and Deactivated views with search functionality. The table shows type names with options to edit or activate/deactivate each type. Common types include Procedural Change, System Change, Personnel Change, Equipment Change, and Organisational Change.
Add a new type
- Click Add in the top-right
- Enter a clear, descriptive name for the change type
- Click Submit to save
Using MoC types
When conducting a management of change assessment, users select the appropriate type to categorise the change. This enables filtering, reporting, and analysis of changes by category across the organisation.
5 MoC Entity Restrictions Tab
The MoC Entity Restrictions tab appears only when entity-specific checklists and templates are enabled in the main Audit/MoC Settings. This feature allows you to restrict user access to checklists and templates specific to subsidiaries or departments.
Note: This tab is disabled when entity restrictions are not enabled. A loading indicator and tooltip explain that restrictions are disabled in the main Settings. Enable entity restrictions in the Audit/MoC Settings to activate this tab.
What you see
The tab displays a searchable table of users with entity restrictions configured. An information alert explains that all users are linked to the global company by default, and this section restricts access to subsidiary-specific content.
Add an entity restriction
- Click Add user entity restriction in the top-right
- Search for and select the user
- Choose the restricted entity (subsidiary or department)
- Click Submit to apply the restriction
Modify a user's entity
In the table, use the dropdown in the "Restricted Entity" column to change a user's assigned entity. The change saves automatically.
Remove a restriction
Click the Remove button (red trash icon) to remove an entity restriction. A confirmation window appears. Once removed, the user returns to global company access and can see all non-restricted checklists and templates.
How restrictions work
Users with entity restrictions see only checklists and templates assigned to their specific entity, plus any global items. This ensures that subsidiary or department users work with relevant content for their organisational unit without access to items specific to other entities.
6 Best Practices
Checklist Design
- Create checklists that align with regulatory requirements and SMS processes
- Use clear, objective criteria that can be verified during assessment
- Group related items logically (e.g., by operational area or risk category)
- Include references to applicable regulations or procedures
- Test checklists in real change scenarios and refine based on feedback
- Review and update checklists regularly to reflect process improvements
Template Configuration
- Create templates for frequently occurring change types
- Include all relevant checklists in each template
- Set sensible defaults to reduce data entry for users
- Name templates clearly to indicate their purpose
- Assign templates to specific entities when relevant
- Periodically review template usage and effectiveness
Change Types
- Define types that reflect your organisation's change categories
- Use consistent naming across safety, quality, and security systems
- Avoid creating too many types - keep categories broad and manageable
- Ensure types align with reporting and analysis requirements
- Provide guidance to users on which type to select for common scenarios
Entity Restrictions
- Enable entity restrictions only if your organisation has distinct subsidiaries or departments
- Assign restrictions thoughtfully to balance access control with usability
- Document which users belong to which entities
- Review entity assignments regularly as organisational structure changes
- Maintain global checklists/templates for organisation-wide changes
