Aircraft Types

Define and manage aircraft type configurations for maintenance tracking and operations.

Configure aircraft type specifications, maintenance requirements, and enable types for maintenance tracking. This page allows maintenance staff to set up the core aircraft type data needed for maintenance planning and compliance.

1 What's on this page

The Aircraft Types page in Maintenance Hub allows you to create and configure aircraft type definitions with technical specifications, operational parameters, and maintenance-specific settings. Each aircraft type serves as the foundation for tracking maintenance requirements, managing fleet data, and ensuring compliance across your fleet.

Key Features
  • Type definitions: Create aircraft types with ICAO designators and models
  • Technical specifications: Configure engine types, categories, and counts
  • Maintenance enablement: Enable types for maintenance tracking
  • Multi-module support: Configure types for maintenance, flight operations, and documents
  • ICAO data import: Load standard ICAO type configurations
Page Areas
  • Search: Top-left search by type designator, manufacturer, or model
  • View Toggle: Centre toggle between Active and Deactivated types
  • Add Button: Top-right button to create new aircraft types
  • Main Table: Sortable table showing all configured aircraft types

2 Searching and filtering

Use the search bar at the top-left to quickly locate specific aircraft types. The search filters results as you type.

Searchable Fields

You can search by:

  • Type designator: ICAO type code (e.g., "B737", "C208")
  • Manufacturer: Aircraft manufacturer name (e.g., "Boeing", "Cessna")
  • Model: Specific model variant (e.g., "737-800", "208B")

Click the info icon next to the search bar to see these options.

3 Adding an aircraft type

Create new aircraft type definitions to support your maintenance operations. Each type can have multiple model variants.

  1. Open the add window
    • Ensure you're viewing the Active types (toggle at top centre)
    • Click Add Aircraft Type in the top-right corner
  2. Optional: Load from ICAO database
    • Use the "Load from ICAO" dropdown to select a pre-configured type
    • This auto-fills type designator, manufacturer, category, engine type, and engine count
    • You can still modify these fields after loading
  3. Enter required information
    • ICAO Type Designator (required): Official ICAO code (e.g., "B737")
    • Manufacturer: Aircraft manufacturer name
    • Weight Turbulence Category (required): Select wake turbulence classification
    • Weight Unit of Measure (required): Choose kg, lbs, or tonnes
    • Category (required): Select aircraft category (e.g., Aeroplane, Helicopter)
    • Engine Type (required): Select engine category (e.g., Jet, Turboprop, Piston)
    • Engine Count (required): Number of engines
    • Aircraft Class (required): ICAO aircraft class (e.g., MEJ, SEP)
  4. Add model variants
    • Click Add 1st model to add a model name row
    • Enter the model name (e.g., "737-800", "737-700")
    • Click Add 2nd model to add more variants as needed
    • Remove unwanted models using the trash icon button
  5. Configure additional settings
    • Recency Tracking Method: Choose type-specific or class-based recency tracking
    • Schedule display colour: Select a colour for visual identification in schedules
  6. Enable for modules
    • Check Enable for Flight Operations to use type in scheduling and dispatch
    • Check Enable for Maintenance Hub to track maintenance for this type
    • Check Enable for Documents to allow document library assignments
  7. Save the type
    • Click Save to create the aircraft type
    • Click Cancel to close without saving

4 Editing an aircraft type

Modify existing aircraft type configurations to update specifications or change enablement settings.

  1. Find the aircraft type in the table (use search if needed)
  2. In the Edit column, click the pencil button ()
  3. The edit window opens with all current values
  4. Modify the fields as needed
  5. Click Save to apply changes
  6. Click Cancel to discard changes

5 Deactivating and activating types

Deactivate aircraft types that are no longer in your fleet or reactivate previously deactivated types as needed.

5.1 Deactivate a type

  1. Ensure you're viewing Active types
  2. Find the type to deactivate
  3. Click the deactivate button () in the Deactivate column
  4. Confirm the action in the dialog that appears
  5. The type is removed from the active list

5.2 Activate a type

  1. Toggle to Deactivated view using the centre toggle
  2. Find the type to reactivate
  3. Click the activate button () in the Activate column
  4. The type is moved back to the active list
  5. Toggle back to Active view to see the reactivated type

6 Understanding the table columns
