Handlers
Manage ground handling service providers for your airport network.
1 What's on this page
The Handlers page serves as the central registry for all ground handling service provider organisations in your network. This page allows you to create, edit, and manage handler details including contact information. Once created, handlers can be assigned to specific airports through the Airport Services & Fees page, where you can configure service fees and operational details for each location.
Handler Registry
Maintain a complete list of all handler organisations. Each handler record includes the organisation name, contact phone number, and email address for operational coordination.
Active & Deactivated Views
Switch between active and deactivated handlers to manage your current provider list and archive historical records. Deactivated handlers remain in the system for reference but are excluded from airport assignments.
Who can access: Users with the Handlers permission can view this page. Users with edit permissions can create, modify, activate, and deactivate handlers. Without these permissions, an access notification displays instead.
Handler details configured here serve as the master record. To assign handlers to specific airports and configure service fees, navigate to the Airport Services & Fees page.
Key concepts
- Handler: A ground handling service provider organisation that delivers services such as passenger handling, aircraft cleaning, fuelling coordination, and ground support at airports.
- Active status: Handlers marked as active are available for assignment to airports. Most operational work uses the active handlers list.
- Deactivated status: Handlers marked as deactivated are archived and cannot be assigned to new airports. Existing airport assignments remain but the handler is hidden from active use.
2 Viewing handlers
The page displays handlers in two separate views: Active and Deactivated. Use the radio buttons at the top of the page to switch between views. The Active view is selected by default.
2.1 Search
Use the search box (top-left) to quickly find handlers. The search applies to:
- Handler name
- Phone number
- Email address
Search results update as you type. An information icon next to the search box displays the searchable fields when you hover over it.
2.2 Active handlers table
The Active handlers table displays all handlers currently available for airport assignments. The table includes sortable columns and action buttons for editing and deactivating handlers.
Table Columns
| Column | Meaning | Sortable | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edit | Edit handler button | No | Opens the handler detail window for editing. Only available with edit permission |
| Name | Handler organisation name | Yes | Click the column header to sort alphabetically |
| Phone | Handler contact phone number | Yes | Main contact number for operational coordination |
| Handler contact email address | Yes | Main contact email for operational coordination | |
| Deactivate | Deactivate handler button | No | Moves handler to deactivated list. Only available with edit permission |
Click any sortable column header to sort the table by that field. Click again to reverse the sort order. A small arrow icon indicates the active sort column and direction.
2.3 Deactivated handlers table
The Deactivated handlers table displays all handlers that have been archived. These handlers are not available for new airport assignments but their historical records are retained.
Table Columns
| Column | Meaning | Sortable | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Handler organisation name | Yes | Click the column header to sort alphabetically |
| Phone | Handler contact phone number | Yes | Main contact number for operational coordination |
| Handler contact email address | Yes | Main contact email for operational coordination | |
| Activate | Reactivate handler button | No | Moves handler back to active list. Only available with edit permission |
Note: Deactivated handlers cannot be edited from this view. To modify a deactivated handler's details, first reactivate it, make your changes, then deactivate it again if needed.
2.4 Pagination
If more than 15 handlers exist in the current view (active or deactivated), pagination controls appear at the bottom of the table. Choose 15, 30, or 60 items per page using the dropdown at the top of the page. Use the pagination controls to navigate between pages.
3 Primary workflows
3.1 Create a handler
Click the Add New Handler button (top-right) to create a new handler organisation. A window opens with a form for entering handler details.
Steps:
- Click Add New Handler
- Enter the handler organisation name (required field)
- Optionally enter a contact phone number
- Optionally enter a contact email address
- Click Submit to save the handler, or Cancel to close without saving
Result: The new handler appears in the Active handlers table and is available for assignment to airports.
After creating a handler, navigate to the Airport Services & Fees page to assign this handler to specific airports and configure service-specific fees for each location.
3.2 Edit a handler
Click the edit button () in any active handler row to modify the handler's details. A window opens with the handler's current information pre-filled.
Steps:
- Click the edit button in the handler's row
- Update the handler name, phone number, or email address as needed
- Click Submit to save changes, or Cancel to discard changes
Result: The handler's information is updated throughout the system, including all airport assignments.
Permission required: The edit button only appears if you have the edit permission for Handlers. Deactivated handlers cannot be edited directly—reactivate them first if changes are needed.
3.3 Deactivate a handler
Click the deactivate button () in any active handler row to archive the handler and remove it from active use. A confirmation message appears before the change is applied.
Steps:
- Click the deactivate button in the handler's row
- A confirmation window appears asking you to confirm the action
- Click Confirm to deactivate, or close the window to cancel
- The handler is immediately moved to the Deactivated handlers list
Result: The handler no longer appears in the Active handlers list and cannot be assigned to new airports. Existing airport assignments remain intact but the handler is flagged as deactivated throughout the system.
Tip: Use deactivation instead of deletion to maintain historical records. Deactivated handlers preserve all past service records and can be reactivated later if the business relationship resumes.
3.4 Reactivate a handler
Click the activate button () in any deactivated handler row to restore the handler to active status. The handler moves back to the Active handlers list.
Steps:
- Switch to the Deactivated view using the radio button at the top
- Click the activate button in the handler's row
- The handler is immediately moved to the Active handlers list
Result: The handler appears in the Active handlers list and is available for assignment to airports again. All previous airport assignments and configurations are retained.
4 Field reference
The handler detail window contains the following fields:
Handler Fields
| Field | Meaning | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Handler organisation name | Yes | Used throughout the system to identify this handler. Should be the official business name of the handling company |
| Phone | Primary contact phone number | No | Main operational contact number. Can include international dialling codes |
| Primary contact email address | No | Main operational contact email. Must be a valid email format if provided |
While phone and email are optional in the handler registry, these details are important for operational coordination. You can add location-specific contact information when assigning handlers to airports through the Airport Services & Fees page.
5 Common validation rules
The system enforces the following rules when creating or editing handlers:
Validation Rules
- Name is required: Every handler must have a name. This field cannot be left blank
- Valid email format: If an email address is provided, it must be in a valid email format (e.g., contact@handler.com)
- Submitting indicator: While the system saves your changes, a loading indicator appears and the Submit button is disabled to prevent duplicate submissions
If validation fails, the window remains open and displays error messages below the affected fields. Correct all errors before submitting again.
